I found this family of mushrooms while walking in the Birch Forest of the Lame, in the Parco Naturale dell’Aveto, Liguria, Italy. I was attracted by the striking red color and the geometrical arrangement of these highly poisonous mushrooms (ideal as a condiment when you invite your mother-in-law), growing on a thick carpet of leaves.

I was visiting the Animal Conservation Park “La Torbiera” near Novara, Italy. Apart from numerous birds, cats and many different species of mammals, there are some splendind bogs that host families of otters. Pay a visit to the Animal Park “La Torbiera” near Novara, Italy.
I went the fall of some years ago. The splendid animals have plenty of space to roam and I was immersed in a beautiful forest. The trees were shedding their leaves, covering the ground like a warm blanket.
It was autumn at its best!

Even though it is a form of plant cancer induced by parasites, I found this gall extremely beatiful and well balanced on the leaf.
